A scene from El Pessebre in Bascara,
just one of many in a Nativity tableau
in which everyone in town has a part
to play. The performers have to stand
motionless for an hour, while the spectators
file past. On the night we were there,
the temperature was close to zero; I
don't know how they do it. By the way,
before anyone starts to worry, the part
of the Baby Jesus is played by a doll!
